How to compare dimensions and tolerances when datasheets use different nominal values, plus-minus values, unilateral limits, and fit language.
Why this comparison matters
The source context determines whether values can be compared.
A nominal dimension without tolerance is not enough for fit or interchangeability.
A plus-minus tolerance and a min/max range can be equivalent, but only after conversion into the same limit format.
Geometric tolerances can depend on datum structure, feature size, material condition, and inspection method.

Unit normalization
Normalize only when the unit family and condition are compatible.

Review warnings
Values that should not be accepted automatically.
Do not merge tolerances when datum or feature reference is missing.
Do not compare a drawing reference number as a dimensional requirement.
Nominal values should not be treated as limits unless the datasheet states the tolerance.
