Why is dimensional analysis important in a datasheet comparison?

Dimensional analysis prevents incompatible values from being compared just because the numbers look close. Pressure, force, torque, energy, power, flow, frequency, and density each require a matching dimensional family before any unit conversion is meaningful.

When should units not be normalized automatically?

Do not normalize when the denominator or condition is unclear, such as particles per wafer versus particles per cubic meter, torque at a shaft versus motor power, or pressure drop at a different flow rate. Preserve the source wording and mark the row for review.

What should an auditable conversion show?

Show the original value, original unit, normalized value, normalized unit, conversion formula, source context, and any warning about prefixes, denominators, test conditions, or assumptions used in the conversion.
